Nvidia AI Security Alliance Puts Hospitals on Notice

Nvidia has formed the Open Secure AI Alliance, a coalition of 37 founding members that includes Microsoft, IBM, Cisco and Salesforce, aimed at setting shared standards for defending AI systems against attack. According to Becker's Hospital Review, the group is being positioned as an industry response to a specific security incident, but the real signal for health systems is broader.

The practical message: AI tools are already running inside hospitals, from clinical documentation to scheduling and revenue cycle, and each one expands the attack surface. Models can be poisoned, prompts can be manipulated, and sensitive patient data can leak through systems that most security teams were not built to monitor. Traditional endpoint and network defenses do not fully cover these risks.

For hospital cybersecurity leaders, Becker's suggests the alliance is worth reading as a prompt to inventory where AI already touches operations, ask vendors how their models are secured, and fold AI-specific threats into existing risk programs before an incident forces the issue.
